This morning I received an email from the National Lottery to tell me my tickets had ran out. So I clicked on the link and re funded my account so that I had another 8 weeks worth of Lotto tickets. I'm old school because I only play Lotto and don't even do the extra dream number jazz.
Anyway I digress, the point is that I noticed after buying my tickets, I still had £3.50 left so I thought I'd give the instant win games a go. At £1 and £2 per game I decided to choose carefully which I wanted to play. (they were all very hi tech looking with interactive features and movie style graphics)
Well all I can say is that I lost my money within a few minutes!
It felt like a game, rather than actually handing over money. I know for sure if i'd have had to have handed over real money and play via a scratchcard that I would have stopped at 1 game. With these I had to really control myself from re funding my account again to play more games until I did win.
I'm not blaming the National Lottery at all, because they had numerous warning pages and security features to try and help; its just that there is something in your head that makes the whole experience not feel like your using real money.
I'm going to stick with free entry instant win games like our site Instantwin4now.
Pro's -
It's completely free to join and play
Loads of prizes and cash to win
You can instantly win
Con's -
Nothing worth more than £20k in prizes
Whereas the National Lottery:
Pro's -
Big cash prizes - life changing amounts
You can instantly win
Some of the money is donated to good causes
Con's -
It's NOT free, you have to pay to play
It's addictive and may lead to gambling problems
It doesn't take a genius to tell you which one's more cost effective! Free Competitions are ace.
